Along with Phantogram, Troy’s soulful singer-songwriter Sean Rowe is the biggest and brightest hope for putting Nippertown on the international musical map. His album “Magic” was released on Collar City Records in 2010, and then picked up for re-release last year by the fine folks at Anti- Records, the label whose roster also includes such marvelous musical mavericks as Tom Waits, Merle Haggard, Bettye LaVette and Lost in the Trees.
But, as they say, the real test of talent is the sophomore album. And Rowe is ready for it. His upcoming album is “Signs,” and he spent much of last month recording it with some help from the members of Railbird.
On Saturday night, Rowe will step into the spotlight for a solo show at the Steamer No. 10 Theater in Albany to unveil several of the new songs for the first time before a hometown crowd.
Opening the show at 8pm is Nippertown’s newest all-star combo, Babe City – featuring Olivia Quillio, Meg Duffy, Caroline Corrigan (of the Red Lions) and MaryLeigh Roohan (of MayLeigh & the Fauves) – in only their second official performance.
Sounds like a night not to be missed, eh?
