Are you ready to rumble?
The third annual Garage to Glory competition will return to its original format as a battle of the bands. Last year, the competition was open only to solo singer-songwriters; Olivia Quillio emerged as the winner.
Submissions for this year’s competition are now being accepted – simply fill out the entry form, send along a photograph and post a video of your band playing an original song.
The competition is open to bands of all musical styles. Bands must be unsigned; each member must be a resident of New York State and 18 years old or older. Deadline for entry is 5pm on Friday, March 16.
Ten bands will be selected from all of the submissions, and their videos will be posted online on Wednesday, March 28 for public voting. From there, five of the ten bands will be selected (four by judges and one by online public vote) for the final showdown. The five finalists will be announced on Thursday, April 5. And in the Garage to Glory finals, each of the five bands will by allotted 15 minutes to perform live at the College of Saint Rose in Albany on Friday, April 13.
Prizes for the Garage to Glory winner include the recording of an EP, the filming of an in-studio music video and a profile story in The Times Union.
