ARTIST TALK: Tara Fracalossi @ Hudson Valley Community College’s Teaching Gallery, Troy. In conjunction with the current exhibition, “Fine Arts Faculty Exhibit,” which remains on view through Saturday, March 17. 12noon. FREE.

READING: Mary Cuffe Perez @ the Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. The author will read from her recently published novel-in-verse, “Nothing by Name,” and also talk about her relationship with the remarkable woman who inspired the book, Rachael Scripter, who lived her entire life on a Galway farm without electricity or running water, supporting herself by raising sheep and selling blueberries. 7:30pm.

TALK: Jonathan Sterne’s “MP3: A Hundred-Year History of an 19-Year-Old Format in Under an Hour” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. The McGill University professor offers a history of digital media through the MP3 format and its impact on the meaning of hearing. 6pm. FREE.

DISCUSSION: “Political Art” @ the Ferrin Gallery, Pittsfield. Award-winning performance artist and activist Reverend Billy talks about his Church of Stop Shopping, the Occupy Movement and his current Fear of Banking activist tour with his new Church of Earthaljua. 6:30pm. FREE.

TALK/WORKSHOP: “Gallery Submission Process Information Session” @ the Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. An info session for artists interested in submitting their work to a gallery for review.
