Mardi Gras is still three weeks away (it rolls around on Tuesday, February, 21 this year), but the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall is getting the party started early when Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole storm into the Music Hall at 8pm on Saturday.
One of the brightest young talents to emerge in Cajun, Creole and zydeco music over the last decade, Cedric Watson is a four-time Grammy-nominated multi-takented musical threat – fiddler, singer, accordionist and songwriter.
Originally from the small Texas town of San Felipe, Watson made his first appearance at the age of 19 at the Zydeco Jam at The Big Easy in Houston. Two years later, he moved to south Louisiana and immersed himself in French music and language. Over the next several years, Watson has performed French music in 17 countries and on seven full-length albums with such acclaimed bands as the Pine Leaf Boys, Corey Ledet and Les Amis Creole, as well as with his own group, Bijou Creole.
In support of their latest album, “Le Soleil Est Levé,” Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole will make their Nippertown debut at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy at 8pm on Saturday (February 4). Tix are $20, $25, $30; students $15.
