The First Alive at Five Concert of 2012…

There’s been no official word yet from Albany’s Office of Special Events, who run the annual summertime Alive at Five concert series at Riverfront Park in Albany, but…

According to his Facebook page, veteran Louisiana accordionist-vocalist Buckwheat Zydeco and his band will be firing up their spicy, R&B-laced brand of bayou zydeco music for a free Alive at Five concert at 5pm on Thursday, July 19.

Buckwheat Zydeco garnered a Grammy Award for his 2009 album, “Lay Your Burden Down,” and over the course of his 30-plus-year career, he’s played with everyone from Eric Clapton to the Boston Pops.

This is a great start. Let’s hope they continue in this vein and eliminate the senile oldies/disco bands & classic rock dinosaurs.
