Yup, Kevin Costner is riding into Clifton Park.
But unlike Hollywood hunks Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper who stirred things up around Nippertown last year, Mr. Dances With Wolves won’t be shooting a new movie. Instead, he’ll be standing in the spotlight with his band Modern West at Northern Lights, churning their way through an evening of such country-rock tunes as “5 Minutes from America,” “Ashed Turn to Stone” “90 Miles an Hour,” from their two CDs – 2009’s “Untold Truths” and 2010’s “Turn It On.”
The band credits some unexpected influences (Daniel Lanois, Beck, Beth Orton, Nirvana, Modest Mouse), as well as the usual suspects (Dylan, Beatles, Springsteen). But mostly it kinda sounds like the meat ‘n’ potatoes heartland rock of Mellencamp.
The two-time Oscar winner’s latest acting project was a starring role in the History Channel mini-series, “The Hatfields and the the McCoys,” which is slated to air later this year.
Costner and Modern West are slated to arrive at Northern Lights on Friday, April 6. Show time is 8pm. Priced at $23 in advance, tix are slated to go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 27) at the club box office, Deja Vu and all Ticketmaster locations.
