MUSIC: “Melodies of Christmas” @ Proctors, Schenectady. It’s opening night for the 32nd annual celebration of holiday music featuring the Empire State Orchestra and Youth Choral. With the McKrells, the Orlando School of Dance and more. 7pm. $15, $25. Through Sunday, December 18.

MUSIC: Frank Jaklitsch & Friends @ the Irish Mist, Troy. In support of his new holiday CD, “One Small Child,” Jaklitsch welcomes a batch of friends and special guests, including the 3 Irish Voices, Amy Collins and the Sons & Daughters of Erin Pipe Band. FILM: “Buck” @ The Linda, Albany. The Food for thought film series continues with the documentary that follows Buck Brannaman, a true American cowboy and sage on horseback who travels the country for nine grueling months a year helping horses with people problems. Doors at 6pm; film at 7pm. $6.
