Northern Lights in Clifton Park has added Fun. to its 2012 concert season. Yes, the NYC-based indie pop band Fun. – led by Nate Ruess (formerly of the Format) – pops into Clifton Park at 8pm on Friday, April 27. Tix are $15 in advance; $17 at the door. A batch of other newly announced shows at Northern Lights are slated to go on sale at 10am on Friday (December 16) including A Loss for Words with Koji, JB (of Bright and Early) and Brian Marquis at 7:30pm on Thursday, January 12 ($8 in advance; $10 at the door); Chris Webby at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 15 ($15); and White Chapel with Miss May I, After the Burial, the Plot in You and Within the Ruins at 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 15 ($17 in advance; $19 at the door). And Northern Lights also welcomes indie psychedelic rockers Dr. Dog on 8pm on Tuesday, March 20. Tix will go on sale at 10am on Monday for $15; $17 at the door.

UPDATE: A Loss for Words with Koji, JB (of Bright and Early) and Brian Marquis will be at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany (NOT at Northern Lights, as previously reported) at 7:30pm on Thursday, January 12 ($8 in advance; $10 at the door).

Nippertown’s own Queen of Piano Jazz Lee Shaw leads her trio – featuring drummer Jeff Siegel and bassmaster Rich Syracuse – in a special concert the First Reformed Church of Schenectady, jointly sponsored by the church, A Place for Jazz and Swingtime Jazz Society. The concert will take place at 7:30pm on Tuesday, December 27. Tix are $10. Phone (518) 377-2201 for reservations.

Fearless guitar explorer David Torn leads a crack band – also featuring alto saxman Tim Berne and dual drummers Dave King (of the Bad Plus) and Ches Smith – into the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday, February 11. All tix are general admission, priced at $20.

Maverick mandolin master Chris Thile and like-minded guitarist-vocalist Michael Daves promise to open some eyes (and ears) in concert at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Wednesday, January 11 in support of their acclaimed duo debut album, “Sleep with One Eye Open.” Ticket prices TBA.

SOLD OUT: The McKrells Christmas Shows at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Thursday (December 15) and 8pm on Friday (December 16) are both sold out. UPDATE: A 9pm show on Thursday has been added to the schedule.

CANCELLED: The concert by Rebelution – who were slated to perform at Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Wednesday, January 11 – has been cancelled. Refunds are available at the place of purchase.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, PART III: Electronic dance music master and two-time Grammy nominee David Guetta is slated to pump up the volume with a live performance at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany in February.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, PART IV: Celtic Woman will make a tour stop with their new show “Believe” at the Palace Theatre in Albany leading up to St. Patrick’s Day.
