The Egg Adds New Concert

Staunchly independent singer-songwriter, head honcho of Righteous Babe Records and proud Buffalonian Ani DiFranco is headed into The Egg in Albany at 8pm on Thursday, April 19.

DiFranco made her most recent Nippertown appearances earlier this month at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield and the Calvin Theatre in Northampton. Reviewing the Pittsfield show in The Berkshire Eagle, Jeremy Goodwin proclaimed, “Ani DiFranco can’t help but be good, and ‘great’ is frequently within reach even on an off night. The self-described little folksinger was really a little symphony as she bopped around the stage of the Colonial Theatre in a solo show Wednesday night, musical ideas pouring forth from her acoustic guitar, while her voice ranging from expressive upper octaves to emotion-laden speak-singing. Yes, she contains multitudes, and at her best these different techniques – fused together by an earnest intensity that seems at the core of her artistic pursuit – combine into something irregularly shaped, but gripping.”

Tix for DiFranco’s concert at The Egg are $33.50 and are slated to go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (December 2).

Interesting choice, but I’d rather see Neko Case, Shelby Lynne, Nicole Atkins, Imelda May, Candye Kane, Sam Phillips, Mavis Staples or Maria McKee.
