Hurricane Irene Flood Benefits Continue

It’s now been two and a half months since Hurricane Irene rumbled through Nippertown, severely damaging homes, farms and businesses in its wake. Since then the story has moved out of the news cycle and off of the front pages, but the need for help in recovery from the terrible damage has not abated.

Here are a few upcoming fundraising events. Please help your friends and neighbors in need in whatever ways you can:

SHELTER FROM THE STORM
WHEN: 8pm Friday (November 18)
WHERE: Ulster Performing Arts Center, Kingston
WHO: The Levon Helm Band with guests Donald Fagen, Natalie Merchant, Graham Parker, John Medeski, Chris Wood and more
CHARITY: Phoenicia Rotary/Sharp Committee Flood Relief, Prattsville Relief Fund, the Mark Project, Ulster County Habitat for Humanity Flood Relief
HOW MUCH: $50, $100

BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE SCHOHARIE VILLAGE LIBRARY
WHEN: 8pm Saturday (November 19)
WHERE: The Parrott House, Schoharie
WHO: The Peckham Hollow Project, the Fox Creek Band
CHARITY: The Schoharie Free Library Association
HOW MUCH: $10

HOOT FOR HURRICANE HELP
WHEN: 2-5pm on Sunday, November 20
WHERE: St. James Methodist Church, Kingston
WHO: Tom Chapin, Roy Book Binder, Priscilla Herdman
CHARITY: All proceeds will be equally distributed to hurricane relief agencies in
Delaware, Greene, Schoharie, & Ulster Counties.
