The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock welcomes singer-songwriter Aimee Mann in concert at 9pm on Saturday, January 21. Tix are $20 (general admission) and $35 (reserved seating); VIP $50. Other new shows on the Bearsville calendar include blues singer Alexis P. Suter and her band at 9pm on Friday, December 9 ($20); the sixth annual Holiday Train Wreck featuring Peter Schickele, Gilles Malkine and Mikhail Horowitz at 8pm on Saturday, December 10 ($20); the band 3 at 9pm on Friday, December 30 ($15); the 28th annual Woodstock Tribute to Bob Marley featuring Royal Khaoz at 8pm on Saturday, February 4 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door); and the Kane Brothers Blues Band at 9pm on Saturday, February 25 ($15).

Not content with rockin’ Nippertown with a blistering TV On the Radio concert earlier this fall, the fine folks at Saratoga Springs’ Skidmore College have announced another hot indie rock concert. In support of his just-released album “Parallax” on the 4AD label, Atlas Sound – the solo project of Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox – will headline the show on Saturday, November 19 at the college’s Zankel Music Center. NYC quintet Laura Stevenson & the Cans will open the show at 7pm. Tix are $12.

Club Helsinki in Hudson has announced its New Year’s Eve show, and it’s gonna be a doozy. The Felice Brothers headline the bash on Saturday, December 31 with the Robots opening the show at 9pm. Tix are $30 in advance; $35 at the door.

The Berkshire Theatre Festival will be hosting a concert by the McLovins at the Unicorn Stage in Stockbridge at 9pm on Friday, December 16. Tix are $15.

The Palace Theatre in Albany is hosting the Royal Comedy Tour at 7pm on Sunday, March 18. Sommore headlines the laugh-fest, which will also feature Earthquake, Mark Curry and Arnez J. Tix are $38 and $47.50.

The Lustre Kings serve as the back-up band for California Latin rockabilly singer Pep Torres for shows at the Ale House in Troy at 8pm tonight and at Daisy Baker’s in Troy at 10pm on Saturday (November 12).

It’s a Celtic Christmas concert featuring the Cape Breton-based family band the Barra MacNeils live at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown at 8pm on Friday, December 2. Tix are $31; students $28.

CANCELLED: The concert featuring the Stanley Clarke Band, which was slated for The Egg in Albany on Friday evening, has been cancelled due to insufficient ticket sales. Refunds are available at the place of purchase.

POSTPONED: The concert by the Bruce Katz Band, which was scheduled for Thursday, November 17 at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs, has been postponed. No new date has been announced yet, but look for a make-up date in late spring.

OPENERS: Craig Wedren of Shudder to Think has been announced as the support act for Chris Cornell’s upcoming concert at The Egg in Albany on Thursday, November 17… Goth rocker Livan will share the stage with Alice Cooper at the Palace Theatre in Albany on Wednesday, November 30.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Local neo-funksters Mirk are thinking big. They’ll be throwing a fan exclusive CD release party at the Washington Avenue Armory next month for their sophomore album “Grind” – even though the disc isn’t slated for official release until February.
