“Dionysia” is a thoroughly contemporary theatrical saga that condenses the form of festival into a two-hour live event. The adventurous, LA-based theater ensemble Poor Dog Group immerses the audience in Greek mythology, image and folklore. Based on the mythic rites of Dionysus and his followers, the satyrs, “Dionysia” re-tells the genesis of the House of Atreus’ curse and illustrates the paradoxical balance of death and birth, violence and ecstasy.
