LIVE: Pokey LaFarge & the South City Three @ Caffe Lena, 10/23/11

Pokey LaFarge

Pokey LaFarge

Pokey LaFarge is a very personable young man with a retro suit and hair, who sings old swing/jazz songs, as well as new songs that sound more or less like old swing/jazz songs.

He and his band give every song its own special reason and spark. They are tight and know what they are doing.

OK, there is just a little bit of show-biz stuff, but it is like the sprinkles on a double-dip ice cream cone – some tasty accents on top of a whole hunk of delicious goodness.

Caffe Lena is a small venue for them to play, and their star is rising, so the next local venue will surely be bigger. Be sure to go. I’ll be there.
