The Doornails – a tasty roots/Americana band featuring guitarist-vocalist Mike McMann, vocalist-harmonicat Ted Hennessey and bassist Gene Lemme – are celebrating the release of their debut CD, “Back Porch Daze,” at the Ale House in Troy at 9pm on Saturday (October 22). The new disc features a dozen tracks, including “Stan the Hot Dog Man,” “I Woke Up On the Floor Again” and “Bring Back Roosevelt Franklin.” At the Ale House, the Doornails will be joined by several guests, including Kevin Maul and the Nellies’ Karen Ann Gilpin and Peggy Lecuyer – all of whom also make guest appearances on the album. The acoustic blues duo of Holly & Evan will kick off Saturday’s festivities at 9pm. Admission is $7.
Singer-songwriter-guitarist Douglas John Bergen and his band, Summer of Doug, celebrate the release of “Double Yellow Line,” his debut CD chockful of a baker’s dozen tunes. The CD release party takes place at 7pm on Saturday (October 22) at the Van Dyck in Schenectady. In addition to Bergen, the band features drummer Dennis Knight McGlaughlin, guitarist JV Abbey, mandolinist Mathew Juk, bassist Arya Chowdhury and harmonicat Doug Bradley. The festivities begin with a meet-and-greet with the band from 5-7pm, followed by opener Josh Sheridan at 7:15pm and Summer of Doug at 8pm. Admission is $7.
