Just when you think that The Egg in Albany has finally filled its concert calendar to capacity with cool shows, they go ahead and add yet another one. The latest addition? Long, tall Texan Lyle Lovett, who will be performing with an acoustic trio at 8:15pm on Saturday, December 10. Priced at $58 and $68, tix are currently available only to members of The Egg. Tix will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, October 19.

The California Guitar Trio invades the Van Dyck in Schenectady for a pair of shows on Friday, November 11, and they’re bringing along their pal, bassist-Chapman Stick master Tony Levin. Showtimes are 7 & 9:30pm, and tix are $20 in advance; $24 at the door.

Frank Zappa tribute band Project/Object comes roaring back into town at 8pm on Wednesday, October 26, and this time around they’ll be landing at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany. And, yes, they’re bringing along a pair of Mothers alum – Ike Willis and Ray White. Tix are $15 in advance; $18 at the door. Also new on Valentine’s calendar are MC Frontalot with Brandon Patton at 8pm on Thursday, November 10 ($15); Chadwick Stokes of State Radio and Dispatch at 8pm on Wednesday, November 30 ($15).

Rickie Pham hosts the Cram for Exams Mid-Semester Concert at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany at 8pm on Friday, November 4. Headlining the bash will be hip-hop kingpin Rick Ross, previewing selections from his upcoming album, “God Forgives, I Don’t.” Rounding out the bill are Travis Porter with DJ Iroc and DJ King Sean. General admission tix are $50.

Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play – one of the hits of the 2011 Saratoga ArtsFest earlier this year – is returning to Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Saturday, November 5. The trio – which also features Joel Brown and Peter “Madcat” Ruth – will once again be joined by clarinetist Frank Brown, Joel’s dad. Tix are $25, and the concert is a benefit for the Saratoga ArtsFest.

Official: We announced it last week, but now the Palace Theatre has made it official – Olivia Newton-John steps into the Palace spotlight at 8pm on Saturday, December 10. Priced at $39.50, $49.50 & $59.50, tix go on sale to the general public at 10am on Saturday (October 15).

Not Comin’ Soon: As we announced earlier this week, the concert by Tommy Malone of the subdudes, which was slated to take place on Saturday night at The Egg in Albany, has been cancelled due to injury.

Not Comin’ Soon, Part II: MmmBoppers Hanson – who was slated to hit the stage tonight at Northern Lights in Clifton Park – have cancelled their performance due to the illness of Taylor Hanson.

Not Comin’ Soon, Part III: Stand-up comic Chris Tucker – who was slated to do his thing at the Palace Theatre in Albany on Sunday night (October 16) – has cancelled his performance due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

In case you missed it: The newest members of the Grand Ole Opry, Rascal Flatts are headed into the Times Union Center in Albany for a January show with Sara Evans and Hunter Hayes as support acts. Tix go on sale on Friday.

In case you missed it, Part II: Led by Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, the latest post-Dead spin-off band Furthur returns to Nippertown for a concert at the Times Union Center in Albany next month. Tix go on sale Saturday.
