CANCELLED: What You WON’T See This Weekend…

Yes, it’s the big Columbus Day weekend.

And it’s the kick-off of the MoHu Festival, a nine-day celebration throughout Nippertown which hopes to attract 50,000 people to a wide variety of arts and entertainment events.

But surprisingly enough, it’s also a big weekend of cancellations and postponements, so here’s a round-up of what you WON’T be seeing around town this weekend:

FIRST FRIDAY IN ALBANY: Yes, today is the first Friday of October, but Albany won’t be hosting its usual First Friday arts walk. Instead, it’s been postponed to next Friday to coincide with the MoHu Fest Arts Walk, which will also include special editions of Art Night Schenectady and Troy Night Out. NOTE: Other First Friday arts walks – including Ballston Spa (6-9pm) and Lee-Lenox-Housatonic-Great Barrington (6-8pm) – will go on tonight as regularly scheduled.

THREE GUITAR HEROES @ THE EGG: Due to artist health concerns, the concert tour – featuring Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Leslie West – has been cancelled, including the performance which was scheduled to take place at The Egg in Albany tonight (Friday, October 7).

GAZILLION BUBBLE SHOW @ PROCTORS: The internationally acclaimed bubble artist Fan Yang and his bubble-licious tour – which was scheduled for Proctors in Schenectady at 2 & 7pm on Saturday (October 8) – has been cancelled.

EVENTS @ THE SPECTRUM PLAYHOUSE: The Spectrum Playhouse in Lee is undergoing renovations this weekend, forcing the cancellations of the talk “How Does It Work: The Organ” (originally scheduled for 11am on Saturday, October 8) and the concert by Les Inegales (originally slated for 5pm on Sunday, October 9).

CHAD & JEREMY @ THE WOOD THEATER: The concert by ’60s folk-pop duo was originally scheduled for the Wood Theater in Glens Falls on Sunday (October 9), but it has been postponed to Thursday, February 16, 2012.
