FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Woodstock Film Festival @ Colony Cafe, Woodstock. The Gene Ween Acoustic Band fires up an irreverent evening of music for the opening night of the fest. 10pm. $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

TALK: Dave Pallone @ Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Church Street Center, North Adams. The 1o-year Major League Baseball umpire and bestselling author of “Behind the Mask: My Double Life in Baseball” will speak about such issues as how sexual orientation can affect one’s college and personal life. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Olivia Quillio @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The uke-strummin’ Quillio has emerged as the It Girl of the 2011 local music scene. Accompanied by guitarist Meagan Duffy. 7pm. $5.

FILM: “Pearl Jam Twenty” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. Written and directed by Cameron Crowe, this documentary about Eddie Vedder & Co. is part concert film, part intimate insider-hang and part testimonial to the power of music and uncompromising artists. 6:45pm. $9.25; seniors $7.50; children $6.50.

TALK: “Arthur Szyk: Miniature Paintings and Modern Illuminations” @ Bard College’s Bertelsmann Campus Center, Annandale-On-Hudson. Irvin Unger delivers a lecture on the work of 20th-century artist Arthur Syzk. 3pm. FREE.
