Sublime vocalist-clawhammer banjo player Abigail Washburn (of the bands Uncle Earl and the Sparrow Quartet) makes a tour stop at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday, November 5, in support of her third album, “City of Refuge.” Tix are $15. Also new on the Bearsville calendar is singer-songwriter Marc Black at 9pm on Saturday, November 26, with a full band featuring pianist Warren Bernhardt. Tix are $20.

The Eighth Step returns to Proctors in Schenectady this fall for another season of folk and acoustic concerts. It’s looking like most of the fall shows will be held at Proctors Underground, although Dar Williams’ concert on Saturday, December 10 is slated for Proctors GE Theatre ($28). And the Eighth Step will make its first ever appearance at Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany when singer-songwriter-actress-activist Holly Near performs on Friday, October 21 with pianist John Bucchino and guitarist Laura Love ($28, $35). The rest of the Step’s schedule includes “All About the Drums” with Cheryl Prashker, Reggie Harris, Brian Melick and Christopher Simms on Sunday, October 2 ($18 in advance; $20 at the door); David Jacobs-Strain on Saturday, October 15 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); Peter Ostroushko on Saturday, November 5 ($TBA); Red Molly with Pat Wictor on Saturday, November 19 ($20 in advance; $22 at the door); Zoe Lewis on Saturday, December 3 ($TBA); Anne Hills & David Roth on Sunday, December 4 ($22 in advance; $24 at the door); “Sing Solstice?” with Magpie and Kim & Reggie Harris on Saturday, December 18 ($20 in advance; $24 at the door).

Acoustic bluesman Guy Davis rolls into Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Saturday, October 1. Tix are $18 in advance; $22 at the door. Also new on Helsinki’s schedule are Pieta Brown at 8pm on Sunday, October 23 ($TBA) and Justin Townes Earle with Tristen at 9pm on Friday, December 9 ($22 in advance; $25 at the door).

If you missed Donna the Buffalo last weekend at Putnam Den – or if you just need another fix – don’t fret. The band has two more area shows on tap: Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Saturday, September 24 ($20); and the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Friday, December 16 ($25).

Northern Lights in Clifton Park welcomes the Ready Set at 7:30pm on Wednesday, November 23. Rounding out the bill will be the Summer Set, Downtown Fiction and Plug in Stereo. On sale at 10am on Friday, tix are $15 in advance; $17 on the day of the show.

Change of venue: Next week’s hurricane relief concert featuring Ten Year Vamp, Garland Nelson & Soul Session, the Fighting 86’s, the Audiostars, Ernie Williams and more was originally scheduled for the Palace Theatre in Albany, but it has been moved to Proctors in Schenectady.

Cancelled: Atari Teenage Riot – who were slated to make a tourstop at Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Wednesday, September 21 – have cancelled the show. Ticket refunds are available at the place of purchase.

    I’m not sure if I could handle another Donna the Buffalo show this soon.

    I haven’t recovered from Saturday’s Putnam Den show yet. A 3-3/4 hour set after a 70 minute warm up act!
