Stiff Little Fingers?
Obviously, this ain’t your father’s Irish music festival…
Boston’s favorite Celtic punks rumble into Nippertown on Sunday, and they’re bringing a whole bunch of their musical friends with ’em for a rollicking day of no-holds-barred, Guinness-soaked music-making merriment and more.
In support of their new album, “Going Out in Style,” Dropkick Murphys and their inaugural Shamrock-N-Roll Festival are rolling into the Altamont Fairgrounds in Altamont on Sunday (September 11). In addition to Dropkick Murphys in the headlining slot, the touring fest will feature Belfast punk pioneers Stiff Little Fingers (who should prove to be worth the price of admission all by themselves), as well as Street Dogs, Chuck Ragan, the Mahones, the Parkington Sisters and Big Bad Bollocks. They’ll be alternating performances on two stages throughout the day.
The fest will also feature a unique event – a boxing demonstration and signing with special guest, renowned boxer “Irish” Micky Ward, who was the subject of the award-winning 2010 film, “The Fighter.”
The gates open at 2:30pm on Sunday; music kicks off at 3:30pm.
Tix for the family-friendly, all-ages fest are $30.50 in advance; $35 at the gate. All firemen, policemen and military personnel with identification will be able to purchase two tix for the price of one in honor of 9/11. And $1 of each ticket purchase will be donated to the Dropkick Murphys’ charity, the Claddagh Fund, while another dollar will be donated to 9/11 charities.
