MUSIC: Paley & Francis @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Reid Paley and Black Francis (aka Frank Black from the Pixies) charge into Valentine’s in support of their self-titled collabortive album, due out next month. One of only two U.S. shows. Do not miss this one… 8pm. $15.

ART/MUSIC: September in the City Art Fair @ Tricentennial Park, Albany. The month-long lunchtime Wednesday art & music series kicks off today with an exhibit of photographers, painters, sculptors and more, as well as music by Ben KN (aka Ben Karis-Nix). 11:30am-2pm. FREE. UPDATE: Cancelled due to the weather.

MUSIC: The Roy Jay Band @ the Hudson River Music Hall, Hudson Falls. The six-piece Grateful Dead-inspired band celebrates the release of their new CD, “Joy Ray.” With Chuck Kelsey. 7pm. $20. Related story: Interview with Roy Jay

ARTIST TALK: Wolfgang Staehle @ UAlbany’s University Art Museum, Albany. A lecture by the German-born artist whose work, “Niagara, Eastpoint, Ludlow,” is on exhibit at the museum through Saturday (September 10). 7pm. FREE.
