Johnny A., What Was the First Album You Ever Bought?

“The first album I can remember actually buying and paying for myself was “Little Deuce Coupe” by the Beach Boys.

I remember the event vividly. Just about 10 years old at the time, my cousin Sue and I took the bus into Malden Square in Massachusetts. There use to be a little record store there just below where I took drum lessons.

I bought the Beach Boys album, and she bought ‘Meet the Beatles.’ When we got home and upon listening to both albums, I tried my damnedest – to no avail – to get her to trade records with me.

To this day, the Beatles are still my favorite band.”

Guitarslinger Johnny A. rips it up at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Thursday, September 8. Tix are available here $16 in advance; $20 at the door; VIP $25.
