FESTIVAL/MUSIC: moe.down @ Gelston Castle Estate, Mohawk. It’s Day One of the three-day fest with performances slated by the New Mastersounds, Ween and, of course, moe. Gates open at 12noon; music officially starts at 8pm. $160 for a three-day ticket. Related story/schedule.

MUSIC: Steve Earle & the Dukes (And Duchesses) Featuring Allison Moorer @ Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. The jack of all trades – author-actor-singer-songwriter – leads his band in a homecoming holiday weekend concert. 9pm. $40, $50, $60. UPDATE: $50 and $60 seats are sold out. Only $40 standing room tix remain.

FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Tanglewood Jazz Festival @ Tanglewood, Lenox. It’s Day One of the three-day fest that caps off Tanglewood’s summer season. Today its the Ulysses Owens Quintet at 6:30pm, and the double-header of the Robin McKelle Quartet & the Michael Kaeshammer Quintet at 8pm. $42-$62; lawn $18. Related story & video.

ARTS WALK: First Friday @ various locations, Albany. Happy birthday, First Friday! Nippertown’s original monthly arts walk celebrates five years of arts, culture and free wine at receptions. 5-9pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Knyghts of Fuzz @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Albany’s garage-rockin’ power trio takes on its toughest challenge – special guest vocalist Artie Fredette, formerly of the infamous Lawn Sausages. 6pm. $3.

MUSIC: The High Peaks Band @ Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs. Be sure to get there early – you won’t want to miss Washington, DC’s Kindlewood, who open the show in support of their excellent debut album, “Desiderium.” 9pm. $3.

MUSIC: The Ruddys @ Brunswick BBQ, Troy. Drummer Andy Maroney’s farewell show with the band before he heads off to California. 9pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Rathkeltair @ the Parting Glass, Saratoga Springs. Celtic roots rockers. 9:30pm.

MUSIC: Michael Century @ Carmen’s Cafe, Troy. On accordion and piano, Century serves up a musical mash a mile wide, stretching from Mozart to Mingus, from Ravel to Radiohead. A benefit for the Troy Bike Rescue. 6:30pm. $5.

MUSIC: Holly & Evan @ Zaika, Clifton Park. Acoustic blues duo. 6:30pm.

PARTICIPATORY DANCE/MUSIC: First Friday Capital Swing Dance @ the Elks Lodge, Albany. Chance Bushman and Giselle Anguizola provide the dance lessons at 6:30 & 8pm. Violinist-vocalist Teresa Broadwell & Thrivin’ On a Riff provide the dance music starting at 8:30pm. $15; students & seniors $10.

MUSIC: Keith Pray’s Soul Jazz Revival @ Shepard Park, Lake George. The sax man turns up the funk. 7pm. FREE.
