FLASHBACK FOTO: Name the Band! Win a Prize!

Flashback Foto

Wow! We had another winner last week!

It’s FLASHBACK FOTO Thursday once again, and we went digging, digging, digging through the vast Nippertown archive bunker to unearth yet another fabulous band promo photo from years gone by.

Thanks to the fine folks at the Spectrum 8 Theatres in Albany, we’re giving away a FREE PAIR OF MOVIE PASSES to the 8th commenter who correctly identifies this band. Please keep in mind that all of the weekly Flashback Fotos are of local Nippertown bands of yesteryear, which should help steer you away from guesses like the Lemonheads, Leon Is Getting Rounder and the Little River Band.

To make it fair, comments on this post won’t show up until we announce the winner on Monday afternoon. One comment per person, please, and be sure to leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. Good luck!Close, but no winner this week – it’s the Lumpen Proles! Check back on Thursday to try your knowledge of Nippertown bands of yesteryear.

Ah, Lumpen Proles Mach II, with Bill Rella, W. Scot Gray and Joshua Vincent abetted by that skinny, ne’er-do-well synth man Rob Seals!

This version of the band made one of the great lost albums of Albany music history.

Here’s a great song from the original lineup — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6VliXwPGCo

Plug ’em in on Youtube and you’ll find lots of great stuff.

I think this is the Lumpen Proles, 80’s punk band from Albany. I am so excited to see they are getting much deserved recognition, they were great.

  10. Martyn says:

That would be the lumpen pro e’s in their late four piece lineup. Great band, great period for Albany music”

  11. Ellen says:

Thanks for the link, Mike. I still have a copy of that great “lost” album, but it’s on cassette and we no longer have a cassette player!

  12. martyn says:

Not to split ‘airs with the encyclopedic mr. eck, but wouldnt this technically be Mach III? I thought there was an earlier line-up of the band with a second guitarist and a percussionist?
