Be Here Now: The DayGlow BLU Tour @ the Washington Avenue Armory, 9/8/11

Beats. Love. Unity.

The Dayglow BLU Tour invades the Washington Avenue Armory on Thursday, September 8.

So what is it?

According to the Dayglow website, it’s a “spectacular show that fuses high-energy music, art, dance, and PAINT into one mind blowing combination.” It’s also “truly a unique, spectacular, and innovative show that you must experience to comprehend.” Or to really boil it down to its essence, it’s “the world’s largest paint party.”

In other words, it’s pretty much like a rave with a lot of paint splattering all over the audience.

Which actually sounds like a lot of fun to us…

based on the video it looks like a Flaming Lips concert without the Flaming Lips and with a little more paint.

The Armory has really been a disappointment.

The promise was for it to be a good large room, 4000-capacity venue for music once a week.

The main local promoters — Bell, Millis, Etoll — all got the ball rolling in the beginning.

But I don’t think any of them do much in there anymore.

    What happened?
