FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Ommegang Americana Festival @ Brewery Ommegang, Cooperstown. Steve Earle & the Dukes (And Duchesses) featuring Allison Moorer headlines the bash at about 9pm, which also features the Felice Brothers (7:15pm), Langhorne Slim (6pm), the Horseshoe Lounge Playboys (5:15pm) and more. 5pm. $40, including overnight camping.

FESTIVAL/FILM: Animation Festival 2011 @ Proctors, Schenectady. Day One of the big nine-day festival of films kicks off with “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within” (4:30pm), “Nine Nation Animation” (6:30pm) and the fabulous “Paprika” (8:15pm). $3 per film; or $15 for the entire fest.

MUSIC: Aztec Two-Step @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The fab veteran folk duo celebrates with a 40th anniversary concert at 6:30pm, and a cruside through the Simon & Garfunkel Songbook at 9pm. $32 per show.

MUSIC: The Brubeck Brothers Quartet @ Gallagher’s Banquet House, Cairo. Chris and Darius Brubeck – sons of the great jazz pianist Dave Brubeck – lead their jazz quartet into Cairo for a warm-up concert on their way to the Newport Jazz Festival this weekend. PARTICIPATORY THEATER: “SITSTANDWALKLIEDOWN” @ Pappa Charlie’s Deli, Williamstown. Under the auspices of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Phil Soltanoff directs (and Gabriel Marantz conducts) the site-specific, mobile, participatory performance piece. ARTS WALK: First Friday @ various locations, Albany. Albany’s monthly arts walk, chockful of visual art, music, fun and more. Recommended: The Flyer Squad @ Dead Presidents Lounge. 5-9pm. FREE.

FESTIVAL/FILM: The Ballston Spa Film Festival @ Wiswall Park, Ballston Spa. It’s Day Two of the three-day, fourth annual international film fest, and it moves outdoors. Here’s the complete schedule of films being screened. 9pm. FREE

MUSIC: Lia Ices @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. An absolutely exotic and intriguing experimental pop vocalist. With Trummors. 9pm. $10.

MUSIC: The Philadelphia Orchestra @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Cirque de la Symphonie joins the orchestra for “Magical Tales,” as acrobats, aerial flyers, contortionists, jugglers, dancers and strongmen perform amazing feats to classical masterpieces. PICNIC/ART/PERFORMANCE: Summer Preview Picnic @ the Contemporary Artists Center, Troy. Stuff your picnic basket or go pot-luck and bring along a dish to share.     Does this mean the Figgs show at Putnam Den is canceled?
    It was originally listed on both the band’s and the venue’s webpage; now it is on neither; still listed in Metroland.

    Yes, we’re assuming that Figgs show is cancelled for tonight or at least postponed. Although a Figgs-meets-Probing Digit double-header would certainly be something to behold…
