I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is the second longest running off-Broadway musical in history, after The Fantasticks. It played for twelve years from 1996-2008, and fifty-seven times during the course of that run, a young man took the stage to make a surprise proposal to his sweetheart. People just LOVE this little revue, and not just Americans – it has been translated into thirteen languages. Go figure.

…Love…Perfect…Change, as it is colloquially known, has been called Seinfeld set to music. The comparison is absolutely accurate because Seinfeld, you will recall, was the TV show about…nothing. So if you like shows about nothing, this is the show for you.

Oh, and it helps if you’re heterosexual. If you’re gay this will just bore you to tears because its all about the stereotypical dating and mating foibles of straight folks.
