Let’s do the Time Warp again… under the stars!
The 1975 cult classic film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” continues to attract new fans, and when we say “fans,” we mean serious “fanatics.”
For years now, Tim Curry as the outrageously flamboyant Dr. Frank-N-Furter has captivated movie-goers, who do more than simply sit in the theater and passively watch the film. People yell back lines at the screen during the extended pauses between dialogue, dress up in costume and act out the film, and throw props toward the screen at various times during the film.
Nippertown’s premier RHPS shadow cast (actors who get up and “shadow” the movements of the characters on-screen) the Whip-It Outskirts have performed at the Palace Theatre, and regularly do their thing at screenings at The Linda.
Now they’re taking it someplace they’ve never been before – outdoors.
“Rocky Horror Picture Show” and the Whip-It Outskirts are taking their show to Maple Ski Ridge in Rotterdam on Saturday night, and they’re calling it the Unconventional Convention. The rain-or-shine performance is a special benefit for A Thousand Moms (a non-profit organization devoted to building community support for New York’s LGBT/Q youth in foster/adoptive care).
The gates open at 4pm; and the screening begins at dark. Food and beverages will be available on site. Bring a picnic. Dance at twilight. Camp out overnight. All for just $10; a four-pack of tix is just $30.
BUT WAIT! We’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX to a lucky Nippertown reader for Saturday night’s Unconventional Convention. To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winners will be selected at random and notified on Friday. Good luck! Congratulations, LiLi!
