7/26/11: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

MUSIC: Steely Dan @ Tanglewood, Lenox. Tanglewood doesn’t host many rock shows, but this could prove to be one of the best of the summer. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker lead their Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty Eleven tour featuring an impressive eight-piece jazz-rock band plus a trio of backing vocalists (including Catherine Russell). 7pm. $25-$150.

MUSIC: Kinobe @ Clark Art Museum, Williamstown. The multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer from Uganda and his band serve up a pulsating synthesis of traditional African roots music and global fusion. 6pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Madcat & Kane @ NBT Bank lawn, Canajoharie. The Music On Mainstreet concert series continues with the genre-crossing blues duo of harmonicat Peter “Madcat” Kane and guitarist Shari Kane. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Ironweed @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. SwordPaw presents a hardcore show with Skeletons in the Piano and Maggot Brain. 7pm. $5.

MUSIC: Matt Finley & Rio Jazz @ Rogers Park, Bolton Landing. The trumpeter-flugelhornist and his band – pianist Peter Tomlinson, guitarist Jeff Ciampa, bassist Don Miller, drummer Joel Rosenblatt and percussionist Tomas Martin Lopez – play their 23rd annual jazz concert at Roger’s Park. Rain site is the Bolton Town Hall. 7:15pm. FREE.
