The New York City Ballet’s summer season at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center kicks off tonight. One of the highlights of every summer in Saratoga Springs since 1966, the ballet attracts nearly 35,000 fans to SPAC each year, offering world class grace, beauty and artistry.

Post continues below...

We’re giving away a pair of FREE LAWN TIX to Friday evening’s performance (July 8), a very special all-Balanchine night featuring performances of “Serenade” (Tschaikovsky/Balanchine), “Tarantella” (Gottschalk & Kay/Balanchine), “Square Dance” (Corelli & Vivaldi/Balanchine) and while we’re all still in a patriotic mood, “Stars and Stripes” (Sousa & Kay/Balanchine). George Balanchine, of course, was one of the greatest American choreographers of the 20th century and the founding father of the NYC Ballet.

The New York City Ballet will be in residence at SPAC through Saturday, July 16 with evening performances at 8pm on Tuesday-Saturday, as well as matinee performances at 2pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. Tix for evening performances (except Saturday’s gala) are $26, $47, $54.50, $64.50, $72.50; lawn $20; kids 12 and under free on the lawn. Matinee tix are $27.50; $23.50 for seniors, children and students; lawn admission is $10; kids 12 and under are free on the lawn.

But we mentioned earlier, we’re giving away a pair of FREE LAWN TIX to a lucky Nippertown reader for Friday night’s all-Balanchine performance! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winners will be selected at random and notified on Friday morning. Good luck! Congratulations, Michael!
