7/4/11: Today’s Tips: Monday

FESTIVITIES: Fabulous Fourth & Fireworks @ the Empire State Plaza, Albany. There’s no national headliner this year, but the all-local main stage performers include Captain Squeeze & the Zydeco Moshers (2:15pm), Hair of the Dog (3:30pm), Kicking Daisies (5pm), Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra (6:30pm) and the Audiostars (8pm). Other performers throughout the day include stuntbiker Aaron Colton, the Skyriders and the Hamilton Hill Arts Center Steel Drum Band. But of course, it’s really all about the fireworks… 2pm. FREE.

FESTIVITIES: Saratoga’s All-American Celebration @ Congress Park, Saratoga Springs. Lots of events and activities throughout the day, including blues band the Resonators at 3 and 6pm. Capped off, of course, with fireworks! Begins at 11am.

FESTIVITIES: Fourth of July @ Clifton Common, Clifton Park. Following the 12noon parade from Shen to the Clifton Common, there’s full day of events and activities. Danny Serraphine (formerly the drummer with Chicago) returns for the second consecutive Fan Fourth celebration with his band the California Transit Authority, taking the stage at 8pm. Sirsy also plays at 5:30pm. And, yes, fireworks, too. It all begins at 1pm. FREE.

MUSIC: James Taylor @ Tanglewood, Lenox. The fourth and final show of Taylor’s annual concert stand in Lenox. Followed by fireworks, of course. 7pm. $24-$96. SOLD OUT.
