MUSIC: The Heath Brothers @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. Freihofer’s Jazz Festival has left town, but there’s still plenty of world-class jazz going on in Saratoga. Tonight, the legendary Heath Brothers kick off the Skidmore Jazz Institute’s concert series, and you’d better get there early if you want a seat. 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Purling Hiss @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Fresh from their Solid Sound Festival performance on Friday, PH lands at Valentine’s in support of their new EP, “Lounge Lizards,” on the Mexican Summer! label. With Monster Movie, Girls of Porn and Apollo Greed. 7pm. $7.

MUSIC: Americana Tuesdays @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Host band Dan Johnson & His Expert Sidemen welcome Gay Tastee. 8pm. $5. NOTE: veteran anti-folkster Paleface, who was originally slated to perform tonight, has been forced to cancel his appearance due to illness.

The Poestenkill Historical Society presents Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck performing “American Favorite Ballad Songs From Folkways,” as they delve into the vast songbags of Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, Pete Seeger and many more. 6:45pm.
