The Hudson Valley Songfest is back in Hudson this weekend.
It all kicks off on Friday evening with the Best New Artists Showcase at Wunderbar & Bistro in Hudson. The festivities begin at 7:30pm, and the showcase will feature 10 up-and-coming acts. As determined by a panel of judges, the top three will be named as official Best New Artists of the HVS6, win valuable prizes, and have the opportunity to perform again in concert the following night at Club Helsinki Hudson. Admission to the showcase is $10.
The sixth annual Songfest continues from 9:30am-6pm on Saturday at a new location, Club Helsinki Hudson, with a day-long series of panel discussions, seminars and workshops geared toward helping you move your music career to the next level.
Among the featured topics will be copyrights and contracts, working with producers, getting your music on TV, improving your songwriting, recording and on-stage performance skills and much more.
Some of the music biz experts who’ll be participating in the panels and seminars include Cindy Bullens (songwriter, musician), Debra Russell (music biz coach), Suzanne Hilleary (music publisher), Jeff Zahn (music supervisor), Tim Moore (songwriter, musician), Linda Lorence (vice president at SESAC), Paul Antonell (studio owner, engineer), Steve Durand (producer), KJ Denhert (songwriter, musician), Wallace Collins (music attorney), Andy Pratt (songwriter, musician) and many more.
A special lunchtime showcase will also be held as part of the songfest featuring performances by Anna Cheeks, Marc Black and Lunic.
Admission to the Songfest’s Saturday panels, showcase and seminar is $60.
