THEATER: “Kingdom of the Shore” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s opening night of the world premiere of a new family drama by Terence Lamude. 7:30pm. $30, $45. Through Sunday, May 15.

MUSIC: The Downtown Fiction @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Virginia popsters land in Nippertown in support of their new album, “Let’s Be Animals.” With He Is We, Cady Groves and Amely. 7pm. $12.

VIDEO: “Dancing for Dara” @ RPI’s West Hall Auditorium, Troy. Assembled by Video Data Bank, this program of video work illustrates how contemporary video serves as an important site for creative approaches to politics and extremely serious fun. The screening is a benefit for Dara Greenwald – video artist, E-ARTS PhD student and activist – who is currently fighting cancer, and all proceeds will go directly to help her in her battle. 7pm. Suggested donation $5-10.

THEATER: “KOWTOW/China See” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. TSL’s Linda Mussmann and Claudia Bruce collaborate with dancer and performance artist Suzanne Helms in a new work. 7:30pm. $10. Through Friday.

MUSIC: John Prine @ Ulster Performing Arts Center, Kingston. One of the master singer-songwriter-storytellers of our generation. 8pm. $49, $62.

MUSIC: Olivia Quillio @ Moon & River Cafe, Schenectady. The ukulele-playing winner of the Garage to Glory singer-songwriter competition earlier this month joins Liana Gabel and John Craigie in a triple-bill. 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Jesse Malin & the St. Marks Social @ Bogie’s, Albany. NYC rocker Malin and his band return after a super show at Jillian’s back in January. With Frank Palangi and a solo acoustic set from the Erotics’ Mike Trash. 7pm.
