Beginning today, the Shelnutt Gallery is hosting a two-day exhibition and silent auction of small art works at the RPI Student Union in Troy to benefit the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. Nearly two dozen artists who have exhibited at the Shelnutt Gallery over the past decade have each generously donated a painting or other artwork for the auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to the RPI RELIEF: SUPPORT FOR JAPAN fund.
Contributing artists include: Caren Canier, Linda Cross, Adrienne Cullum, Francelise Dawkins, Lamerol Gatewood, Kico Govantes, George Hofmann, Ayriel Hunt, Femi J. Johnson, Ramon Lascano, Virginia McNeice, David Miller, Sandra Miller, Vincent Pomilio, Tom Sarrantonio, George Simmons, Arleen Targan, Tony Thompson, Sergio Gonzalez-Tornero, Stephen Tyson, Dan Udell, Ron Walton and Frank Wimberley.
The exhibit is open from 10am-6pm today, and 10am-7:30pm on Thursday, when the auction bidding will end. There will be a wine and cheese reception with the artists from 6-8pm on Thursday. Admission is free.
But you don’t have to attend the exhibit in order to place a bid. Photographs of all of the donated artworks have been posted on the gallery’s Facebook page. You can email your bids to firstname.lastname@example.org.
