Hip Hop Chop Shop Opens Saturday in Hudson

Despite the fact that vinyl sales continue to grow, record stores seem to be rapidly becoming artifacts of the past – like the typewriter, the Polaroid camera or the fax machine.

So our hats are off to Julio Jackson and Mike “Mr. Loki” Anthony, two young entrepreneurs who are celebrating the grand opening of their new store in Hudson on Saturday.

In truth, the Hip Hop Chop Shop [Facebook page] isn’t just a record store. Rather, the owners describe it as “a one-stop shop for positive hip hop. A place that has taken all the original elements of hip hop culture – hairstyles, unique clothing and accessories, positive music and entertainment – and put them all under one roof and made it accessible to all ages.”

The store opens at 10am on Saturday for its official grand opening celebration, which will include live musical performances by Dead Seeds, Lady Moon, Young Paris and Sean Delaney.

Located on the main drag at 203 Warren Street in Hudson, the HHCS is planning to be open seven days a week – 8:30am-8:30pm on Monday-Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sundays.
