The Capital Region’s most endearing and enduring music education program is celebrating its 33rd anniversary on Thursday evening with a fundraising event at The Linda in Albany.
Yes, the wheels on the Music Mobile are spinning at 33 1/3 RPM this year, and friends, fans and former students will be gathering to honor founder, president and true spirit Ruth Pelham as she drives the Music Mobile ahead into the future, despite the roadblocks of economic woes and financial governmental cutbacks.
The fundraising shindig begins at 6pm with light cuisine and refreshments. At 7pm, emcee Susan Arbetter will introduce the entertainment for the evening:
Rex Smith – Times Union editor and singer with Albany Pro Musica
Carolyn McLaughlin – Albany Common Council President, who will be joined by her gospel singing sisters
Greg Anderson – producer of cultural events and founding member of Three Dollar Bill Productions
Arielle King – student at the Albany Academy for Girls and a community choir member and inspirational speaker
And of course you know that Ruth Pelham will be doing some singing, too. You just can’t stop her…
There will also be desserts and the cutting of a huge 33rd Anniversary Music Mobile cake.
