3/16/11: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

MUSIC: Rachel Yamagata @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. The singer-songwriter kicks off “In The Woods Residency,” three consecutive Wednesdays at Bearsville, each with a different supporting act. Tonight, it’s Adam Cohen, the son of Leonard, and a pretty fine singer-songwriter in his own right. 8pm. $15.

MUSIC: Sick Puppies @ Northern Lights, Clifton Park. With Vegas rockers Adelitas Way, previewing selections from their upcoming sophomore album, “Home School Valedictorian.” Also Framing Hanley and Me Talk Pretty. 8pm. $15 in advance; $17 at the door.

MUSIC: QX String Quartet @ the Recital Hall at UAlbany’s Performing Arts Center, Albany. QX plays quartets by Mendelssohn and Dvorak, as well as accompanying the film “Berlin: Symphony of a Great City” with an original score composed by long-time collaborator, composer Matt Malsky. 7:30pm. $12.

MUSIC: The Doc Scanlon Trio @ Daisy Baker’s, Troy. Swingin’, jumpin’ & jivin’… 8pm. $12.

MUSIC: The Australian Bee Gees Show @ Vapor, Saratoga Springs. Bee Gees tribute act, direct from Las Vegas. Personally, we’re holding out for Tragedy: The All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees, which lands at MASS MoCA in North Adams on Saturday, March 26… 6 & 8pm. $20.
