PERFORMANCE: “Down the Rabbit-Hole” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. A workshop performance by artists-in-residence Phyllis Chen (toy pianist/composer) and Rob Dietz (video artist/electronic musician), inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice stories. Featuring toy piano, music boxes, live electronics, magnifying glass, live and edited video and amplified objects. Followed by a discussion with the artists. 7pm. FREE. LECTURE: Sam Sifton @ Skidmore College’s Palamountain Hall, Saratoga Springs. Hey, foodie! The chief food critic for The New York Times offers a talk at the Spa City… but where will he stop to eat? 7pm. FREE.

DANCE ON FILM: “Don Quixote” @ Proctors, Schenectady. The Bolshoi Ballet’s production of the classic Miguel de Cervantes tale starring Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev. 1:30 & 7pm. $20.

READING: Robert Olen Butler @ Weis Cinema at Bard College’s Bertelsmann Capmus Center, Annandale-On-Hudson. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the short story collection “A Good Scent From a Strange Mountain” reads from his works. 2:30pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys @ McGeary’s, Albany. Jim and the boys are back for another of their first-Monday-of-the-month evenings of bluegrass, wry songs and loads of fun. 7:15pm. FREE.
