With bad blood, litigation and the ever popular “personal differences” apparently now out the window, the McKrells have announced a surprise reunion concert at The Egg in Albany at 7:30pm on Friday, April 8.
Singer-songwriter Kevin McKrell will once again lead the classic Celtic-bluegrass line-up of the McKrells – featuring guitarist Craig Vance, banjo master Chris Leske and fiddler Doug Moody – in an evening of rousing fan favorites from one of Nippertown’s most popular bands.
Priced at $20, tix went on sale this morning.
MEANWHILE… The McKrells’ reunion comes on the heels of the Stomplistics reunion, which will take place at the Albany Hibernian Hall on Saturday, as part of Wizapalooza, a day-long benefit and celebration of the life of the late John Wisniewski, who passed away earlier this month, leaving behind substantial hospital and medical bills.
The Stomps’ soul-stirring, bring-the-funk line-up on Saturday will feature guitarist-vocalist Bernie Mulleda, bassist-vocalist Dave Macks, guitarist Michael Eck and drummer-percussionists John Lapi and Shawn Connors.
Wizapalooza begins at 2pm on Saturday, with many of Albany’s finest musicians – including Johnny Rabb & the Jailhouse Rockers with Commander Cody, a reunion of alumni from Downtime and Plus 24, Folding Sky, the Erin Harkes Band, Doc Scanlon’s Hot 4 and many others – keeping the tunes flowing all day long. The Stomplistics are slated to wrap up the festivities, taking the stage at about 8:30pm. Suggested donation at the door is $20.
