Call for Entries: Films

Calling all filmmakers!


The Ballston Spa Film Festival is now seeking short film entries for the fourth annual fest, to be presented August 5-6, in Ballston Spa. All genres will be accepted for independent films ranging from 5-15 minutes (or 3-10 minutes for the student division). Awards will be presented in 11 categories (with separate categories for High School/College students), including prizes in animation, documentary and narrative. Films will be judged by a panel of Hollywood professionals. Entries must be submitted on DVD and play in a standard DVD player. DVDs must be mailed in with a completed application form and the entry fee ($5 for students, $25 for non-students). DEADLINE: Thursday, March 31.


WMHT-TV’s local filmmakers’ showcase series TvFILM is seeking short film submissions for its third broadcast season. Maximum length of film is 22 minutes, and the filmmaker must reside in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren or Washington counties. All submissions must include a completed entry form, synopsis of the film, one-sheet filmmaker bio and a copy of the film on DVD. Submissions are non-returnable. DEADLINE: Friday, April 1.


Entries are now being accepted for the 12th annual Woodstock Film Festival, which will take place in and around Woodstock on September 21-25. Short films and feature-length films in a wide variety of categories – including student films – are eligible. Films should be sent on DVD (one disc for shorts; two copies for features), along with the entry fee and a completed application form. EARLY DEADLINE: Friday, May 6; FINAL DEADLINE: Tuesday, June 14.
