Yes, we do get excited this time of year thinking about warmer weather and outdoor concerts. But really… Marrakesh Express: A CSNY Experience? At the Albany Tulip Festival on Sunday, May 8? Really? Oh please make it go away…

Ireland’s award-winning, platinum-selling folk band the High Kings are headed into The Egg in Albany at 7:30pm Sunday, March 13, in support of their latest album, “Memory Lane.” Tix are $30.

Melissa Auf der Maur – best known for her work with Hole and Smashing Pumpkins – heads into Club Helsinki Hudson in Hudson on Saturday, March 12 in support of her solo album, “Out of Our Minds.” Also slated for a stop at Club Helsinki Hudson are Antigone Rising on Saturday, March 19, and the double-bill of JP Harris & the Tough Choices and the Sweetback Sisters on Thursday, April 7.

John Prine is making a tour swing through the northeast in April, and while at the moment it doesn’t look like he’ll be landing in town, he will be offering a pair of nearby concerts. He’s at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston on Wednesday, April 27 ($44, $49, $62; on sale at 11am Wednesday, February 2); and also at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Saturday, April 30 ($35, $45, $55; on sale Friday).

New shows on tap at Northern Lights in Clifton Park include teen rapper Mac Miller at 8pm on Saturday, March 5 ($13 in advance; on sale at 10am Friday); and Sick Puppies at 8pm on Wednesday, March 16 ($15 in advance; on sale at 10am Saturday); and Bring Me the Horizon with Pierce the Veil and We Came as Romans at 7pm on Thursday, March 17 ($17 in advance; on sale at 10am on Friday).

Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany welcomes Welsh rockers the Joy Formidable at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 26, in support of their upcoming sophomore album, “The Big Roar” (due March 15 on Atlantic Records). Opening for gutsy singer Ritzy Bryan and her band will be indie rockers the Lonely Forest, celebrating the release of their debut album, “Arrows.” Priced at $10, advance tix go on sale at 10am on Saturday.

Openers: Nippertown’s own about-to-go-national singer-songwriter Sean Rowe will be opening for Mary Gauthier at Club Helsinki Hudson in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, March 4. Also at Helsinki, Jesse Ruben will open for Todd Snider at 9pm on Friday, February 4; Voltaire has the opening slot for Rasputina at 8pm Thursday, February 17.

Postponed: The show by Conspirator, which was originally slated for Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Saturday, February 19, has been postponed due to conflicts. A new date is TBA.

Openers II: Over at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, Cat Cosentino has snagged the opening act slot for Jeffrey Gaines at 9pm on Friday, February 18.

    I had quite the CSNY “EXPERIENCE” last summer at SPAC….will not be showing up for this one!
    This does not bode well at all for Alive @ Five ……..

    Saw Marrakesh Express recently at the Mohegan Sun casino. Absolutely amazing performance. I’ve seen CSNY and CSN and CN over the years and this band has the energy level of what everyone would like to believe the originals once had. Go to the concert. The link is a video I found of them.
