1/26/11: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

THEATER: “Shipwrecked! An Entertainment – The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told by Himself)” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Fact and fiction blend into one another in this eye-opening, hair-raising, eyebrow-cocking adventure from the pen of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies. A meet-the-cast reception with champagne and desserts follows tonight’s opening night performance. 7:30pm. (Through February 13)

FILM: “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” @ Proctors, Schenectady. It’s the opening night of Q-Fest, Proctors’ new LGBTQ film festival, and the campy Australian classic (fueled by plenty of ABBA music) gets the party started. The Capital Pride Singers launch the night with some tunes at 7pm; followed by the screening at 7:30pm. $12; students $10.

MUSIC: Sonny & Perley @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. The jazz duo plays a benefit concert with all proceeds going to Joan Nicole Prince. 7pm. $20.

MUSIC: The Wayside @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The new, progressive rock band features guitarists John Marsicovetere and Spencer May, as well as bassist Jaimen Hume and drummer Joe DeMarco. 7pm. $5.

MUSIC: Capital Underground Live @ Savannah’s, Albany. Tonight’s installment of Ralph Renna’s weekly local music showcases features Decades, Kill on Sight and Dawn of the Hero. 8pm. FREE.
