2. THE FIRST CONCERT THAT I EVER SAW WAS … in New York, when I was 12 and went with my Uncle Bob to see Yehudi Menuhin play violin.

3. THE FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT I EVER OWNED OR PLAYED WAS … a Framus Gagliano five-string banjo

4. THE FIRST SONG THAT I EVER PERFORMED IN PUBLIC WAS … “Deep River Blues” at the old and famous New Haven coffee house, The Exit.

5. THE FIRST BAND I WAS EVER IN WAS … in New Haven. Billy Hamilton and the Ohio River Boys (a real Truegrass band!)

David Kiphuth teams up with his bandmates in Red Hen for an evening of new old-timey music at the Eighth Step at Proctors in Schenectady at 7:30pm on Saturday. Tix are $16; youth 17 and under $8.
