1/17/11: Today’s Tips: Monday

MEMORIAL: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Observance @ the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, Albany. Featured will be musical performances by Arielle King, the Union College Gospel Choir, the Shaker High School Jazz Ensemble, the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir, Neeco Piper and the Capital District Community Voices of Praise. Dramatic presentations by Too Deep Entertainment and Krystal Rose Surgick. And a dance performance by Jacob Clemente, of the Broadway musical “Billy Elliot.” 9-11:30am; doors open at 8am. FREE.

MUSIC: Ramblin Jug Stompers @ McGeary’s, Albany. Nippertown’s premiere jug band – featuring Cousin Clyde, Bowtie, Mister Eck and Wild Bill – celebrates their fifth anniversary with a no-holds-barred all-star extravaganza. 7pm. FREE.

COMEDY/MUSIC: Monday Night Madness @ Villa Valenti Pub, Troy. Ralph Renna’s weekly showcase presents music by Erin Powers and laughs courtesy Janice Chapman. 7pm. FREE.
