This Weekend’s CD Release Parties

The River Rats @ Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs. Local punk quartet SlackJaw has changed its name to the River Rats. And tonight, they’ll celebrate not only their new band name, but also the release of their debut CD which they named after their hometown, “Rock City Falls.” Doors open at 8pm.

“Capital Underground Live: The Album” @ Bogie’s, Albany. The second installment of Ralph Renna’s massive Capital Underground Live Concert Series invades Bogie’s at 2pm on Saturday with a whopping 10-band bill that includes Heal These Wounds, Nephalum, Dryheave, In the Casket, Outlaw Mystic, Maggot Brain, Accusations of the Insane, Distopic, Amalgama, Vicious Rotten Hell Bastards. And the big bash is also doubling as a CD release party for the equally humungous double-CD compilation, “Capital Underground: The Album,” which is free with each paid admission. Tix are $10; doors open at 1:30pm.

Frank Jaklitsch @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The tireless and oh so generous songsmith Frank Jaklitsch celebrates the release of his new CD, “Hands to Serve, Hearts to Love,” at Caffe Lena at 8pm on Saturday. Local musicians Michael Eck and Bobby Long – both of whom played on the album – will be joining Jaklitsch in concert. As always, proceeds from the concert, as well as all CD sales, will be donated to charity. The acoustic blues duo Holly & Evan open the show. Showtime is 8pm, and tix are $16 in advance; $18 at the door.
