FILM: Marwencol @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. A documentary detailing the story of Marwencol, a 1/6th scale World War II-era town that Mark Hogancamp created after he was literally beaten to death in a Kingston NY bar and revived by medics. Unable to afford therapy for the brain damage he incurred, he created a fictional town and populated it with dolls representing his friends, family and even his attackers. Over time he began to document the mini-dramas of his characters with a camera and his alter-ego Captain Hogancamp became their hero. 2010, 83 minutes. $5 | $7 (Also Saturday, 1/8, Friday, 1/14 and Saturday 1/15).
MUSIC: Skip Parsons’ Riverboat Jazz Band @ the Fountain, Albany. This is what we call a serious residency. Since starting in January, 1971, clarinetist Parsons and his New Orleans-style traditional jazz band have been playing one weekend a month at the Fountain – every month for 40 years.
