Gearing up for the Exit Dome 4 benefit concert on Saturday, January 29 at the WMHT-TV studios in North Greenbush, public radio station WEXT-FM is taking it to your home television screen, as well as the radio airwaves.
All this month WEXT-FM is digging into the vaults to broadcast some of the memorable performances from previous Exit Dome concerts. Here’s a run-down of what you can hear on the radio:
Thursday, January 6 @ 9pm: Alta Mira (recorded live at Exit Dome 3) and Erin Harkes (also repeated at 11am Sunday, January 9)
Thursday, January 13 @ 9pm: Ashley Pond Band (recorded live at Exit Dome 3) and Bryan Thomas (also repeated at 11am Sunday, January 16)
Thursday, January 20 @ 9pm: Matt Durfee and John Scarpulla (both recorded live at Exit Dome 3) (also repeated at 11am Sunday, January 23)
Thursday, January 27 @ 9pm: Blotto (recorded live at Exit Dome 3) (also repeated at 11am Sunday, January 30)
But that’s not all…
WEXT is teaming up with sister television station WMHT-TV to present “The Local 518 TvFilm Festival,” a television special that features local music as well as short films by local filmmakers. Hosted by ‘TvFILM’s’ Brandon Bethmann and WEXT-FM’s Dave Michaels, the show will be broadcast at 10pm on Friday, January 28 and repeated at 11pm on Saturday, January 29.
The music portion of the TV special will feature performances filmed at Exit Dome 2, including Railbird, Sean Rowe, Eric Margan & the Red Lions and Super 400. “We’ll also be using some of the Matisyahu taped performance,” says WEXT’s Chris Wienk. “He stopped by the studio and let us roll the cameras.”
And as we noted yesterday, Greg Haymes will be hosting “The Nippertown Countdown” on WEXT-FM this week, as well. Featuring selections from the Top 10 Local 518 CDs of 2010 – including two bands slated to perform at Exit Dome 4 later this month – “The Nippertown Countdown” is scheduled to be broadcast at 8pm on Thursday and again at 6pm on Saturday.
Of course, you can check out Exit Dome 4 live and in person at the Exit Dome (aka, the WMHT-TV studios) at Rensselaer Technology Park in North Greenbush at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 29 with performances by Bryan Thomas, Slender Shoulders, Que Caro, the Rodeo Barons, Nancy Walker, the Charlie Watts Riots and Phantogram.
