Laura Kratt – executive director of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for the past 10 seasons – is leaving her position to become the director of cultural events at North Carolina’s Wingate University in her hometown of Charlotte.
Kratt will be leaving the Music Hall early next year, and the Hall’s board of directors expects to have an interim director in place at that time to carry on the current season, which includes an upcoming array of performances that stretches from ABBA tribute band Arrival to Celtic super-group the Chieftains. A national search for her replacement will be launched shortly.
Paul Hohenberg, president of the board of the Music Hall Corporation said, “We are truly sorry to see her leave,” he said, “but will remember her sure and skillful hand at the helm through many challenging times.”
Kratt is the longest tenured director of the Music Hall Corporation, taking on the position in June 2001 from interim director Peter Clough, who guided the Hall through the 2000-2001 season after director Peter Lesser left the Hall to become executive director of The Egg.
“Without a doubt, there have been some truly magical moments at the Hall,” says Kratt. “It was an honor to be a part of the Music Hall’s 130+ year artistic tradition, and I hope the community will continue to support this community treasure.”
