Kenny Rogers, What Is Your Favorite Holiday Song?

Kenny Rogers

“There’s a song that I sing called ”Til the Season Comes ‘Round Again,’ that’s the last song on my album, ‘The Gift.’ It’s a new song, but I think it’s such a wonderful song for summing up what Christmas is all about. It’s a little like ‘Chestnuts Roasting On an Open Fire’ [actual title – ‘The Christmas Song’], but it’s got a religious bridge that talks about ‘one night holy and bright.’ It’s really just a wonderful song about warmth and about family and what the purpose of Christmas is really all about. Those kinds of songs are just so very hard to find.

And I also love ‘Chestnuts Roasting’ because I think it allows even those people who are not religiously oriented to feel the spirit of Christmas regardless. And it symbolizes the power of family with its ‘cold-outside, warm-inside’ imagery.”

Kenny Rogers brings his Christmas and Hits Tour to the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls at 8pm on Friday. Tix are $27, $43.50 and $62.
