11/10/10: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

MUSIC: The Ameros, Sentient Machine and the Penny Knight Band @ Savannah’s, Albany. Ralph Renna’s weekly Capital Underground Live showcase reaches back to the ’80s this week to host the reunion of ’80s Nippertown faves the Penny Knight Band – after a 25-year hiatus! 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Miya Masaoka @ RPI’s West Hall, Troy. As part of iEar’s concert series, koto player and electronic musician Masaoka performs solo, as well as telematically with celleto player Chris Chafe at Stanford University. The program concludes with another telematic performance by Chafe and Tintinnabulate, who will perform Masaoka’s “Off the Craggy Cliff.” 7:30pm. FREE.

FILM/MUSIC: “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” with Space Lounge @ Albany Public Library, Albany. It’s the final installment of the Silent Film Spectacular series, as Space Lounge plays its own original score live to accompany a screening of the 1920 horror-thriller. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC:/RADIO: “Dancing on the Air” @ The Linda, Albany. Jay Ungar and Molly Mason lead the Dancing On The Air Orchestra featuring Peter Davis and Sam Zucchini, with this month’s special guest classic jazz vocalist Terry Blaine. MUSIC: Aki Takahashi @ Bard College’s Bard Hall, Annandale-On-Hudson. One of the world’s leading exponents of new and experimental piano music, Takahashi will perform compositions by John Cage, Morton Feldman, Toru Takemitsu, Iannis Xenakis, Henry Cowell and others. 7pm. FREE.
